Welcome to Rentsome, a peer-to-peer rental marketplace operated by Qylio LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it. It applies to our iOS application and our website at rentsome.app. By using Rentsome, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. You may sign in via email/password, Google, Apple, or Facebook.
  • Profile information: Optional profile photo and any additional details you choose to add.
  • Listing content: Photos of items you list for rent, item descriptions, pricing, and availability.
  • Messages: Communications you exchange with other users through our in-app messaging system.

Information collected automatically

  • Location data: We request coarse (approximate city-level) location to show you nearby items and to set pickup locations for listings. We do not continuously track your location in the background.
  • Usage data: We use Mixpanel to collect anonymized analytics about how the app is used (screens visited, features tapped, session duration). On iOS, we request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission before linking analytics to a device identifier.
  • Crash reports: We use Sentry to automatically collect crash and error data to diagnose technical problems. Crash data is not linked to your account.
  • Push notification tokens: If you grant permission, we collect a device push token via Expo to send you booking updates and messages.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your payment card numbers or bank account details. Stripe collects and processes this information directly under their own Privacy Policy. We do receive and store transaction records (booking amounts, payout status) to manage the rental lifecycle.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate your identity.
  • Facilitate rental transactions between lenders and renters, including scheduling, payment processing, and communications.
  • Show you nearby listings and personalize your browsing experience.
  • Send you booking confirmations, rental updates, and messages from other users.
  • Detect fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and keep the platform safe.
  • Analyze usage trends to improve the app (via Mixpanel analytics, with your consent on iOS).
  • Diagnose technical issues and fix crashes (via Sentry crash reporting).
  • Respond to your support requests and communications.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

  • Other users: When you list an item or make a booking, your display name, profile photo, and listing details are visible to other users as necessary to complete the transaction.
  • Service providers: We share data with third-party services that help us operate Rentsome, including:
    • Firebase / Google — authentication, database, file storage
    • Stripe — payment processing and lender payouts
    • Mixpanel — usage analytics
    • Sentry — error and crash reporting
    • Resend — transactional email delivery
    • Expo — push notification delivery
    These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers: If Qylio LLC is acquired or merges with another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, financial, or fraud-prevention purposes (e.g., transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years for tax compliance).

Analytics data collected by Mixpanel and crash data collected by Sentry are retained according to those services' own retention policies and are generally anonymized or aggregated after a short period.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention obligations).
  • Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Opt-out of analytics: On iOS, you can withdraw App Tracking Transparency consent at any time in your device Settings. You can also contact us to opt out of Mixpanel analytics.
  • Push notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time in your device Settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Rentsome is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete such information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at support@rentsome.app.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in-app notification. Your continued use of Rentsome after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
